No one else ever wants to waste their sleeping time to see the sunrise, so I always head out alone before the crack of dawn. While all my horse relatives are sleeping in the meadow -- usually in pairs, side by side, each facing the way the other isn't so they have nearly a 360 degree view around them -- I stretch out all four of my limbs, hooves dragging along the dew-covered ground as I head out away from the herd, listening to the sounds of all the nightlife and my own hoof beats.
Traveling at night in my horse form is quite easily, surprisingly. I can see quite well at night, so don't let anyone tell you differently about a horse's night vision. Hence why I only travel at night in my horse form. Then again, I pretty much live in horse form... but that's besides the point.
I really enjoyed cantering through the field that was just outside Canicus. No one really came out here aside from my large family and the travelers/merchants that came for the markets. And because my non-blind side was facing the east, I was able to see the faint orange that was starting to break the darkness. With the final twinkles of the stars in the purpling darkness, it was definitely a sight to behold. I slowed my cadence to a lazy walk, watching the sky get lighter and lighter until the top of the sun finally peaked over the horizon. It was then that I knew I needed to go because, well, I didn't feel like getting blinded by the sun.
So I took off at a canter again -- or a lope, whichever you prefer to call it -- and entered the city through one of the main entrances, once again slowing down to a walk. I was very used to walking around a chaotic mass of hustling people and animals, but the market seemed slow this morning, which I didn't mind. Less feet for me to have to worry about stepping on.
My all-time favorite part of the market was all the baked goods, so I made a bee-line for the stalls with food. There was one with fresh bread on it, so I went up to it, though I waited until the stall tender had his back turned. Once he did, I reached out with my nose and sniffed all the fresh loaves of bread, letting out a satisfied grunting noise. The man quickly turned around and his face hardened as soon as he saw my nose next to his bread; he raised a fist and my long ears flattened against my neck as I scrambled away, hearing the guy muttering and swearing about a "damn mule." I couldn't help but smile -- if you could even call it that -- heading down the road again and examining all the food on the stands.

if i can't see the sun maybe i should go
My, it was rather beautiful outside. Dimitriy was walking up to the city of Canicus from the west, the opposite direction from where all the hustle and bustle usually was. His green-tinted, translucent wings fluttered lightly as the sun hit them. When the sun rose, so did he. Not that he had anything against his good friend Isra, but he loved the way his plants and earth shone when the rays of the moon goddess's twin sister's sun hit them. His eyes were that color after all; the color of spring leaves when the sun first hit them. It was such a beautiful color. Perhaps Dimitriy's favorite.
As the nature god walked into the part of the city where there were other creatures awake and about, he tucked his wings tightly into his back where they just seemed to. . . disappear. He had to do this in order to walk in public anywhere. Otherwise he had to talk to everyone that bowed to him, and he would be overwhelmed, and it was just a lot harder to get things done. One could say he was. . . down to earth. Haha.
Ah, the morning marketplaces. What a lovely sight. There were so many different goods that Dimitriy just loved to look at. And yes, of course he paid the hard-working people for their items. Just because he was a god didn't mean he was justified to steal. Even though some people might think that. The still-rising sun poured over the place and made the young god's hair appear to have light, golden highlights. His eyes skimmed over a booth in front of him that was selling hand made jewelry. There was a silver piece with a beautiful pendant the color of the goddess Avira's eyes. He pointed, taking one hand off of the woven basket he kept on his hip at all times. "How much?" he asked politely. The merchant just laughed and then ignored him. Dimitriy sighed. Why did people have to be so mean? He pulled some gold coins from his pocket -a generous amount- and layed them on the counter. "Is this enough?" The man's eyes went wide, and he nodded vigorously, snatching up the coins on the table. The nature god smiled, picked up his pendant, and went on his way.
A couple booths down, he saw a brown mule standing close to a baked goods tent. A soft smile graced Dimitriy's features. He loved the Veriters. They were his personal favorite out of all the species in the Unknown. The smile turned to a fornw, however, when the mule was shooed away by the shopkeeper. Poor thing. Dimitriy went up to the grumbling man and laid a few pieces of currency down on the table, then placing two loaves of bread into his basket. After a quiet 'thank you', he followed the mule that had scrambled away. When he had caught up, Dimitriy lifted a dainty hand off of his basket and tapped the animal on the shoulder. "Here, my friend." he said, "Have some." He took a loaf of bread out of the basket, broke it in half, and offered it to the equine.

As I wandered down the stalls, the enormous stench of fish quickly hit me like a brick in the face. I never really liked fish, but my mother absolutely loved it and she frequently visited one stand in particular that she claimed had the best fish in the whole Seige market system. I figured I'd do a good thing for my mother, so I trotted over to the stand.
The plump woman that ran the fish stand looked up from her cutting when she heard me approach. A wide, gap-toothed grin spread across her face. "Ah, Semp'ah, mah dearie!" She exclaimed, reaching out and grabbing my long face, placing greeting kisses on either side of my muzzle. "How've ya been?" I tipped my side side-to-side in a reply similar to "decent," causing her to laugh heartily. "Well, well, then. I be suspecting ya want the usual, eh? For your ma?" I nodded, emitting an awkward nicker sound. The woman chuckled to herself and turned around, grabbing some large catfish and putting them into a basket. "This one's on me, Sempah, mah boy." She handed the basket to me and I gave the same awkward nicker as a thanks, then took the basket in my mouth. She waved farewell as I headed off once again.
I didn't make it very far before someone tapped me on the shoulder. Coming to a stop, long ears turned forward, I turned my head to see a man standing beside me with a loaf of bread -- the one I had sniffed earlier, to be precise. "Here, my friend." He broke the loaf in half and offered me some. Hell, who could resist bread as good as that? I set the fish basket down and, to be polite, turned into my human form as I faced the man. "Thank y', sir." I said, taking the half and smiling at him. Though now that he had done a deed for me, I figured I needed to return it. "Is there anythin' I can do fer ya, sir?"
