General Info
Distinguishing Physical Features
Behavioral Attributes
live in the Nightmare or the Dream.
General Info
• the Veriters have two forms: one that is human, and one that is animal. They can shift between these two forms as easily as they can breathe, and as quickly as their heart beats. Each Veriter has one animal, and animals can be repeated in different Veriters.
• a Veriter's shift is completely quiet, unless there's some flap of wings or clicking of nails upon the ground. It can happen in a split second or within a couple of seconds, depending on the Veriter's own will to shift. All animals that a Veriter might shift into are earthly, meaning there isn't a Veriter that can turn into a fantastical creature.
• a Veriter's animal shift form is passed down to them by genes. Veriters reproduce normally, and so the species status is passed down from a parent that has the Veriter gene in them. A child Veriter's shift is usually related to their parent's shifts in some way, shape or form.
• as they are essentially half-animal, Veriters have enhanced senses much like many other creatures. Depending on what their animal shift is, they share some traits with it. They may have enhanced smell, sight, hearing or taste. Maybe they are slightly faster than a regular human would be. Perhaps their balance is otherworldly.
Distinguishing Physical Features
• Veriters are seemingly human when not in their animal form, but there are certain traits that can help one pick out a Veriter from the rest. One thing that you can look for would be their eyes. Veriters have wild eyes, usually in the color of the eyes that their animal shift has. But sometimes, it can be the other way around, and the animal has the same color eyes that the human form does.
• in addition to the color of their eyes, Veriters also have other traits that they share with their animal forms. The color of their hair may reflect the color of fur or feathers. Longer canine teeth may reflect the fangs of a snake or the teeth of a cat.
Behavioral Attributes
• Veriters are sort of fickle beings, as shown by half of their species being on the side of the State of the Nightmare, and the other half being on the side of the State of the Dream. A lot of them change sides along the way, sometimes even three or four times.
• most Veriters live in large groups (in collective noun, called a 'siege of Veriters'), and they form vast civilizations. There is strength in numbers, and the Veriters have recognized this. Most of them flock to the Veriter cities and regions, making their kingdom expand as time goes on.
