Llynia stepped carefully over some rocks, making sure not to trip and fall. She was currently in the ruins of a Sindri city, ruins that she knew quite well. Even though it was closer than might be comfortable to the war zone, Llynia has been coming here whenever she got bored for much of her life. Sometimes she would camp out in one of the buildings that was still mostly standing, or bring one of her pets and let them play. Sometimes she found a few small gems that the Sindri used to use for power, and she would take them back to her home. She kind of collected them. Llynia walked under a half fallen archway in to a building that only had one wall still standing, the rest piled around where the other walls should be.
In one of these piles, she spotted a medium sized gem stuck in a rock at the bottom of the pile. It was a bright pinkish-purple color, and shiny. She walked over and managed to get the rock out of the rubble. It was rather large, but she didn't have a gem this large, and she wanted to get it out. Llynia found another rock and tried to use it to chip away the rock surrounding the gem.

and i don't want the world to see me 'cause i don't think that they'd understand
The sun was high in the sky, and Banshee fluttered his wings slightly as he stepped through the rubble. He came here kind of a lot lately, to the ruins of Callia. He had heard that it was once the largest city of the Kingdom. Larger even then Ederra. He would have loved to see it in its prime, though. It would have been grand. Gwyllion, the shorter-than-average Sindri, didn't really talk to people all that much, but he sure did listen to the stories when they were told. He loved the history of what the Sindri were, and mostly still are. Though the war, and the incoming race of Lumenera (he though they were called. He could only guess.) had taken a toll on them. He didn't hate the Lumenera like the others did though. He found them rather interesting.
Banshee was ripped from his thoughts as his foot got caught in a pile of rubble and he was headed downward. His wings, however, nearly having a mind of their own, fluttered and helped him not to fall on his face. He grabbed desperately at his messenger bag he kept around his shoulders, making sure none of its contents had fallen out. And then his beautiful, light purple wings folded into his back once again. He only had four of them, and he was fine with that. He didn't need six wings to get around. He had been pretty indifferent when he learned he could fly, even. Gwyllion just didn't fly that often. He liked to be on the ground and looking at things from that perspective. Everything was up close and easy to see. He kept going, heading to wherever until he heard the rumble of stone from somewhere to his right.
His light, crystal blue eyes flicked over to where he heard the noise, and saw a flash of a blue color. There was someone else here! Well that was rare, since in the few weeks he had been coming here every day, he hadn't seen another soul in the ruins. Gwyllion made his way over as silently as possible. He was curious, but he absolutely did not want to attract attention to himself. He had a tendency to flee when he did that. And he wasn't a coward. Banshee came around the one wall that was still standing on the building that the other seemed to be inside of. Well at least she was also a Sindri, he noted as he peeked around one side of the wall. He quickly withdrew when he thought she was about to turn around.
However, he noticed that she was trying to get one of the magic gems out of a piece of stone. She seemed to be struggling. Well. . . Gwyllion supposed he could help with that. . . but that would require confrontation. He sighed silently. Oh well. Walking around the wall, he came up on the left side of the other Sindri. "Do you. . . need some help with that?" he asked quietly, pointing to the rock in the female's hands. He turned his body to open up his messenger bag, getting out a small metal contraption that resembled a mini crowbar. He'd gotten it at the marketplace, not knowing what it was. But it was cheap, and he figured he could use it later. Now would be the time when he would be using it.
Cautiously, he took the stone from the other Sindri, fitting the metal bar in between the gem and the stone, and pulling gently. It was already loose from her banging on it, so it came out smoothly with minimum amount of wiggling. Gwyllion dropped the stone part down with the rest of the rubble, and handed the pink gem back to the girl. "Here ya go." his voice was soft, as it almost always was. His nickname was verbal irony. Apparently his friends thought it was funny. He touched the gem in the Sindri's hands with his index finger. "See, it's still glowing a little bit. That's a very nice find." He smiled softly and ran his hand through his purple hair nervously. ---------- Words: 691 Listening To: Song To Inanna -- Lisa Thiel Notes: Yayyyy~ :D

Llynia turned her head a bit when she heard a noise, but figured it was just some small animal, and then went back to trying to get her gem. She looked up in slight surprise when another Sindri showed up at her side, and asked rather shyly if she needed help with her task. She let him take the rock and watched as he pried it out easily with the odd tool he had pulled from his bag. "Here ya go." She took the gem back from him, and nodded as he remarked about it's shiny-ness. Llynia couldn't help but smile just a bit in response to his small grin and sheepish but cute gesture.
"Thanks." She said, and stuck out her hand in a handshake gesture. "I'm Llynia." She didn't really know what to say to a stranger who seemed so shy, and she didn't like just walking away. It was awkward.

and it was me and you and the whole town under water
Banshee was slightly proud of himself. A couple years ago, he would have given the gem to the other Sindri and fled without another word. A couple years before that, he wouldn't have initiated confrontation at all, and would have just high-tailed it out of a radius within ten miles of the area. So yeah, he thought he was making progress. Plus, the female in front of him didn't seem mean. So what was he afraid of? He shouldn't have been afraid of anything. Thanks. Gwyllion nodded and clasped his hands behind his back. "No problem. It's just that I saw you needed help, and I had the means to help you.." He trailed off when he saw that the other Sindri stuck out her hand in a handshake fashion. Okay, confrontation he could do. Physical contact? He didn't know about that.
I'm Llynia. He was just about to refuse the handshake as politely as he could, but those two words stopped him. He knew that name. Every Sindri knew that name. Llynia was the only princess in the royal family of the Sindri. "Y-you mean.. like, Princess Llynia?" he asked nervously, not knowing what to do. What had Gwyillion gotten himself into? Okay, that was it for him. No more confrontation with anyone. He continued to inwardly kick himself, until he realized that there was still a princess standing in front of him. "Eh, I-I'm sorry." he quickly apoligized and took the princess's hand in his own, raising it to his mouth to give the back of her hand a quick kiss. It was only what you were supposed to do with royalty in front of you. "But what are you doing all the way out here, Princess? Isn't this a little close to the battle areas?" He had no idea what to say. Royalty. Of course. Of course it had to be him. --------- Words: 314 Listening To: Dark Blue -- Jack's Mannequin Notes: OH YOU GWYL. c:

Llynia mentally kicked herself when she saw the other Sindri's reaction to her name. Now he was going to get all polite, and treat her all nice and stuff. She didn't really want that. She thought it was unecessary, and it would probably make him feel more uncomfortable than he already did. And he would most likely excuse himself politely as quickly as possible, especially because he seemed so unwilling to shake her hand. Well, before she told him her name, that is. But she didn't want him to leave. It wasn't every day that she met someone new. She would have at least liked to get to know someone a little bit before they started with the pleasantries expected for royalty. "Oh, yeah, That. But you don't have to treat me like a princess, that's really not necessary. . ." She trailed off, not sure if he would still treat her like he was expected to.
She drew her hand away after the other Sindri had kissed it with a slight grimace on her face. "You uh, don't have to do that, you know." Llynia also didn't really like being addressed as 'Princess'. It wasn't her name, and it made her feel awkward. This wasn't a formal matter. "I come out here all the time. So far, being close to the war hasn't been a problem." And with any luck, it wouldn't become one. She didn't think it would. "And just call me Llynia." She added.

and it was me and you and the whole town under water
But you don't have to treat me like a princess, that's really not necessary. . . Banshee was slightly surprised. A princess not wanting to be treated like a princess. This was odd. And right when Gwillion was finally sure he knew what to do. Well so much with all the formalities. He looked down at his hands in front of him, while he was wringing them out dry. So what was he supposed to do now? "Oh, okay then. Sorry." he apologized softly. He supposed he could give his name. . . but it's not like the other Sindri would care anyway. She was the princess. She had more important things to remember. "I'm Gwyllion. But you can call me Banshee. Everyone else does." he explained. He didn't bother to explain the irony of the name. She would probably get it anyway.
So she came out here a lot? That was hardly safe. . . Banshee knew he came out here a lot, but it was okay for him because he'd been in the war. He knew what was out there. So far, being close to the war hasn't been a problem. Gwyllion nodded. "And let's hope it doesn't become one. I've seen the kind of things that go on down there. It's far from pretty." he said, looking down at the rubble around their feet. Maybe there was some more gems that they could find. It was kind of fun to dig them out. He crouched down, sifting through a pile with his hands. "And it's nice to meet you, Llynia." He smiled briefly up at her, until he hit something smooth with his hand in the pile of rubble. Pulling it out, it was a rather small gemstone, a deep blue.
"Here you go. Do you want this one?" He stood back up and held the gem eye level to both of them. He was only about an inch taller than her. Which saddened him. Why did he have to be so short? Well, short compared to other Sindri, that is. "I've been coming here almost every day for the past two weeks. It's a beautiful place, even if it is in ruin." And it was true. It really kind of saddened Gwyllion that the Sindri had to desert this place. How great it must have been when the Sindri's kingdom was so big that a city at this location would have been no problem at all. He looked over to the former royal's castle that still mostly stood amidst the ruin of Callia. "Ever been in there?" he asked, gesturing toward the still tall standing palaces. Llynia smiled sheepishly when the other Sindri apologized again. That was one of the annoying things about being a princess. Everyone always held that "I am not worthy" attitude, even though you know they didn't believe they should really be doing any of it. And then you know that the person people are polite to is the one they talk about in other places. It just made her feel weird. "I'm Gwyllion. But you can call me Banshee." Well that was an interesting nickname. Especially because he was so quiet. But after a minute, she understood that it was irony. Haha. Llynia had never been amused much by irony. She would probably just end up calling him Gwyllion anyway. It was a nicer name.
She was relieved, though, when he started talking more. It indicated that he intended to stick around for a little bit. He revealed that he had been in the war, something she could respect. Of course she had never been down there herself, but she kind of wanted to see what it was like. If it was as gruesome as everyone said. Based on the way he sounded when he talked about it, it was. But she smiled when Gwyllion addressed her by her name, and not her title. So he could dismiss the formalities. That was good. The other Sindri pulled out a small blue gem and asked if she wanted it. "No thanks, I already have a few like it." He went on to say he had been coming here recently, so he probably knew it well enough, and he wouldn't be getting lost. "Yeah, it is beautiful." She responded, looking around a bit.
He inquired if she had been in the palaces, which of course she had. It was one of the first places she had been taken when she was younger, before she started coming here by herself. Her parents had thought she should see this place. "Yeah, I have. And yeah, let's go."

Gwyllion nodded when the princess refused the gem he had found, slipping it into his own bag. It was understandable, as it wasn't a really rare gem. But he still thought it was pretty, so he kept it for himself. Maybe he would make a bracelet out of it later or something. But apparently the other Sindri had been to the large castle before, and Banshee should have guessed. It was a part of their history. And as a royal, she had to learn everything about their history. So the male Sindri now felt dumb that he would have asked such a question. But oh well, what's done is done. Banshee smiled and nodded politely again, and gestured that they should start heading that way before beginning to walk over the rubble.
He struggled on the rocks, having to keep his lavender wings constantly raised and ready to fly, just in case he tripped and fell again like he had so many times today. A Sindri's wings were an intimidating thing. Especially with the growing number of pairs of them a Sindri could have. An individual with six wings was probably extremely skilled in the air. Even though Gwyllion was not that skilled on foot, as most Sindri weren't, he prefferred to be on the ground. He liked to see things from eye level compared to an eye from the sky. It was a different sort of trait. Banshee almost fell when he wasn't watching where he was stepping and toppled forward once again. But this time, he held onto his messenger bag and let his wings pick him up by themselves. He was suddenly very thankful to have working wings.
They arrived at the broken doors to the palaces' main building, and Banshee looked up at the ominous tower that stood on top of the place they were about to enter. "This place would have been amazing in it's golden day." he said softly before entering into the dusty front room. He looked at the scratchy and dusty floors under his feet, and at some of the left-behind tapestries on the wall. It was a sad sight, if one thought about it. "So, where to?" he asked Llynia, turning around to make sure she was still there. "We could go to the throne room, or to the royal's chambers to hunt for interesting items." ---------- Words: 393 Listening To: Dream Is Collapsing -- Inception OST Notes: Gwyllion thinks Llynia is pretty. c:

Llynia followed Gwyllion's path to the old palace. She hadn't been there in a while, and had forgotten the best way to get there. She didn't trip over any rocks, as she was good at walking through this stuff, and never really had a problem with it. She stood next to him under the entryway for a minute, and nodded in agreement that it would have been beautiful. And it had been. She had been shown pictures of it when she was taken here in her childhood. But there was no need to mention that. . . She looked around at the crumbling walls and remembered how they used to look. Llynia sighed, wishing she could have lived here when it was still standing. It was nicer than where she lived now. It would have been amazing.
"So, where to?" Llynia came back to reality at the other Sindri's question. Well, there were a lot of places they could go in here. She had already been to the throne room, of course. And she found it kind of boring. And she doubted there was anything left to loot in this place. "We could go to the tower." She suggested. Providing that the stairs were still there and sturdy enough to hold their weigh. Somehow the highest part of the structure hadn't fallen yet. It almost seemed like people were preserving this place, even if it was part of the ruins. It wasn't just an ordinary building, after all. She hadn't been up there before, but she guessed that most of the steps would still be there, and they would be able to climb to the top. She wanted to look at the whole of the ruins, and the tower was the only place you could do that without flying. So she turned and headed towards the staircase leading up.
