Behavioral Attributes
live in the Nightmare.
General Info
• live in Undeath; were mortal at one time but have died and been born again. They do not die normally once again. A creature in Undeath is harder to kill than a creature that has only been born once.
• cannot reproduce; as their bodies have already gone through the life and death cycle once, their bodies don't function as living things. Their heart does not beat, their stomach does not digest food, and their blood, stagnate after being plunged into Undeath, has turned a sick shade of black. They gain new Revenants from the constantly dying creatures around them.
• however difficult to kill, there are many sure-fire ways to make sure a Revenant is dead - and stays that way. Because the Undead don't depend on their bodies to stay alive, they will not die merely from injury. You may cut an arm off, cut a leg off, drain their entire body of blood, but until you kill them the right way, they can always be stitched back together.
• way number one to kill a Revenant: burn them to ashes. Fire, in any case, is an agent used to separate the spirit from the body. Thus by burning a Revenant's body to cinders, one is releasing its spirit, and preventing it from coming back.
• way number two to make sure a Revenant is dead for good: send a silver bullet straight through their head. Silver has magical and holy properties, and can quickly put to death many creatures that would normally be difficult to kill.
Distinguishing Physical Features
• long, sharp incisors replacing the canine teeth and the teeth on either side of the front teeth. These fangs lack enamel, making them permanently razor sharp, but weaker when biting into colder things.
• pallid, sickly skin tone. Because their body itself is no longer living, the skin is easier to break. However, that doesn't mean that it can't just be sewn up later.
• bright, seemingly glowing eyes. No matter what color -blue, green, orange, purple- a Revenant's eyes are, they are always unnaturally bright and most of the time, have the appearance of glowing. They do not glow, however, in full darkness.
• the fingernails on most Revenants have gone completely black, and have grown out to a point in a fashion similar to claws; most use these as a form of weapon, as the claws are very sturdy.
• they have little to no muscular strength, even the largest of Revenants struggling with a medium-sized box; usually more than one of them doesn't help move heavy things, either. They would usually be incapable of pushing and holding another creature down in a fight. However, Revenants have otherworldly speed, which is what really makes them so dangerous. Their reflexes are beyond catlike, and their vision is extremely sharp.
Behavioral Attributes
• Revenants cannot survive off of regular food and drink, because their body is no longer alive and cannot digest and use it. Revenants get their energy by taking energy directly from living beings; that is, drinking blood. The dead cells inside of a Revenant's body cannot create their own energy, and so they take energy in the form of blood from others. Therefore, a Revenant cannot survive by drinking blood from one of their own kind.
• they are a species that have a rather high opinion of themselves, and see most other species as slightly inferior. Most of them run highly civilized towns, cities and regions, and are always higher up in rank than the other species in the places that they populate the most of.
